Edmonton Muslims, like all Canadians, are deeply shocked and saddened by the shooting deaths of soldiers and civilians at Fort Hood in Texas on November 5, 2009. While the suspected shooter in this incident is a Muslim, the violent attacks of which he is accused stand in direct opposition to the principles and values of the Muslim faith.

The Edmonton Council of Muslim Communities (ECMC) joins with several prominent Muslim organizations in North America in unequivocally condemning the killings at Fort Hood. We offer our prayers and deepest sympathies to the victims and the families in this recent incident, and we pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.
